Shipping Guide
We know that shipping books can be expensive, so we’ve pulled together this handy guide to help you out.
We also know that buyers are much more likely to buy when shipping is low cost. For that reason, we’d encourage you to think about how you split the cost of the book itself and shipping - studies show that higher cost items with lower shipping sell more than lower cost items with higher shipping.
Our guide is based on the assumption that most buyers and sellers will be UK based. As all our shipping on the site is for UK shipping, if you are not UK based and would like to buy a book, we suggest you reach out to the seller and discuss shipping options with them.
To benefit from cheaper Royal Mail postage, ideally you’d wrap your book (safely and securely) so that it is considered a “large letter”. The maximum thickness allowed in the large letter category is 2.5cm, and with a weight limit of up to and including 750g. The cost of sending out a package in this category is around £2.30 for up to 500g to send the item 2nd class with Royal Mail. You can check this out here.
If you’re sending more than one book, we suggest packaging them up together and weighing the package. You can then obtain shipping quotes from Royal Mail, DPD and Evri. We’d suggest obtaining a shipping quote before you list, so that you ensure the seller covers the correct shipping price!
Top tip: Royal Mail can pick up the item from your doorstep for 72p if you buy postage online (you need to be able to print the label).
Buyers - it’s cost effective to buy more than one book and benefit from less shipping costs. If you find a book you are you going to buy, check out the seller’s other listings. If you want more than one book, drop the seller a message and see what they can do for shipping!
